7680 INDEPENDENT EDUCATIONAL EVALUATIONS
Parents of children with disabilities have the right under Federal and State regulations to obtain an independent educational evaluation (IEE) at public expense under certain conditions. The criteria for obtaining an IEE is contained in District Regulation.
A parent is entitled to only one IEE at public expense each time the District conducts an evaluation with which the parent disagrees. The District will not compensate a parent for any amendments to the initial IEE or costs related to the evaluator's participation in either Committee on Special Education or building-based team meetings.
If requested by the parent/guardian, the District shall provide the parent with information about where an independent evaluation may be obtained, the criteria under which the evaluation is obtained, including the location of the evaluation and the qualifications of the examiner, which shall be the same as the criteria which the District uses when it initiates an evaluation.
