Power to Schools Program
New York State Power Authority Project (NYPA)

October 24, 2014 - The District partnered with NYPA to complete $6.6 million dollars in energy savings capital construction work in our school buildings.  Highlights of this project include:

  1. Installation of 72KW solar panel energy generation system at Casey Middle School.
  2. Various heating system upgrades that improved the efficiency of our current heating systems.
  3. New boiler systems (heating) at South High and Country Parkway.
  4. Lighting modifications in major school building areas (auditoriums, gyms) that save energy.
The savings from this project funded its cost and the State Aid it generated results in the District receiving a positive cash flow of $464,439 per year.  The effective payback period for the project is 8.19 years.
