November was an exciting month at Forest Elementary School. It was amazing to see our students participating in the Sharing Basket and provide food and supplies to those in need. I want to thank PTA Members Kim Gianelli-Calos and Meaghan Zloty for spearheading this effort. One of the most important things that we can do as adults is teach our children to care for those around them and their community.
Just an update from our Shared Decision Making Team. We are currently working on creating a “Publishing Cart” which can be shared by the teachers in the building and used when individual classes wish to use the cart to publish student writing assignments.
November also provided our third and fourth grade teachers with opportunities to engage in outstanding professional development with our trainer from Columbia University. These opportunities greatly enhance our ability as professionals to provide stronger instruction in both Reading and Writing Workshop.
It is that time again for Parent-Teacher Conferences. The sign-ups for this are available via WITS through December 4th. Parents who do not sign up prior to the 4th should contact the Forest Elementary Main Office at (716) 626-9800.
