Attention Parents: On June 3rd, our 6th, 7th and 8th graders will be involvoed in an assembly program on CYBER TECHNOLOGY. Our parent program is an hour long and will run at two different times that day. The first program is at 12:30pm and the second at 6:00pm in our auditorium. May 27, 2010 -- Thursday morning, as students entered the building, their backpacks, gym bags and purses were searched. Also, a locker clean-out was conducted under the supervision of teachers and administrative staff. These additional precautionary measures were taken in light of the incidents that have occurred at Mill recently. Please read Mr. Calandra's letter to parents about the continued vigilance on the part of the school to resolve this matter.
May 26, 2010 -- Again today, messages of a threatening nature were found on a bathroom wall. Police were called and students were moved outside for a short time. School officials and the police continue to investigate these disruptions and when caught, the individual(s) responsible will be held accountable. May 25, 2010 -- Shortly before 2:30 p.m. this afternoon, another message was found scribbled on a bathroom wall. The Amherst Police were called and students were safely moved outside. The school was searched and students returned to the building in time for regular dismissal. Please click HERE to read a letter to Mill parents from Principal Mike Calandra.
May 14, 2010 -- This afternoon, a second message was found on a bathroom wall that raised concerns. The Amherst Police were called and students were moved outside while the school was searched. The police and school officials determined that the building was safe and students returned to the building about 45-minutes before regular dismissal time. May 10, 2010 -- Today at approximately 1:30 p.m., Mill students and staff were evacuated from the building due to a bomb threat found written on a bathroom wall. Per our emergency evacuation plan, District buses took everyone to South High School. The Amherst Police were called immediately and responded to investigate. The building was thoroughly searched by law enforcement officials and bomb-sniffing dogs. Students returned to Mill for dismissal. All after school Mill Middle activities have been cancelled for May 10th.
