District to honor 12 distinguished alumni

Wall of Fame honorees

A cancer research scientist, the team physician for the Buffalo Bills and the Buffalo Sabres, and an Emmy award-winning producer for Saturday Night Live are among twelve distinguished alumni named to the Williamsville Wall of Fame. They will be inducted October 27 during an awards breakfast at the Park Country Club. Following the breakfast, the newly inducted honorees will return to their respective alma maters to address students during special school assemblies.

The Wall of Fame honors outstanding Williamsville graduates for their professional achievements, contributions to society, and dedication to community service.  “These distinguished alumni are an inspiration to our current students and a great source of pride for the entire Williamsville community,” said Superintendent Scott G. Martzloff. The 2017 inductees are:

From Williamsville SOUTH High School:
Bridget E. Niland, Class of 1990, Athletics Director/Associate Professor of Business, Daemen College

Mark P. Pitirri, Class of 1985, Detective, Amherst Police Department

Lindsay Anne Shookus, Class of 1998, two-time Emmy award-winning producer for Saturday Night Live, New York, NY

This year marks the tenth biennial Wall of Fame induction, which currently boasts 106 members from the district’s three high schools as well as the original Williamsville High School dating back to the early 20th century. The Williamsville Education Foundation, Inc. is an independent 501c3 organization. All proceeds from the Wall of Fame celebration support the Foundation’s teacher mini-grant program, which funds innovative, student-focused projects across the district each year.
