At its meeting Tuesday night, the Williamsville Board of Education addressed class rank, school safety, and the 2018-19 draft budget during a three-hour session.  The meeting video is available for viewing online, and the School Board Notes provide a meeting recap.

On class rank, the board defeated two proposals that would have eliminated class rank for current sophomores and juniors.  Following the board's action, President Shawn Lemay said, "class rank will stay as is".  The board had voted in September to eliminate class rank starting with this year's freshman class.

Amherst Police Chief John Askey and Captain Jim McNamara joined Superintendent Scott Martzloff and Assistance Superintendent Anna Cieri in a detailed presentation on school security and safety.  Board members discussed conducting school-specific security audits, expanding membership on the District Safety Committee, and writing a letter to legislators addressing the need for resources to enhance school security.

The 2018-19 draft budget totals $190.5 million, a spending increase of 2.34 percent. The tax levy increase is below the state cap. Dr. Martloff's budget presentation is available on the 2018-19 Budget Development webpage.
