Welcome back to school!

I hope everyone had a great first week!

It was incredible to see the energy and excitement from our families, students, and staff throughout the District as we returned for the 2022-2023 academic year!  I can’t wait to see all the great activities that take place, and the accomplishments our District is able to achieve in the classroom, the arts, and athletics.  Be sure to check the WITS Event Calendar for all important information and school events.  I also encourage you to stay in contact with your school's PTA or PTSA for school events, and opportunities to increase your involvement in your school.

As we kickoff the school year, I want to remind our families that if you have any questions or concerns, your first point of contact for communications should be your building administrators – your principal, assistant principal, or athletic director.  They are able to answer any of the questions you have and ready to help and provide support when needed.  Contact information is listed on each school’s principal’s page and on the District website.

In the spirit of increased communication, please remember the next Board of Education meeting will take place on Tuesday, September 13th, at the District Office at 7:00 p.m.  Each BOE meeting will also be streamed on the District’s YouTube channel.

At this meeting, we’ll share information on how to stay connected with your schools, the Climate and Communications Survey, and provide an update regarding our Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion initiatives.

As always, information, including the meeting agenda, community update, and other documents and presentations, are available on the District’s website and through BoardDocs.  All of the meeting dates are also listed online and were shared by Dr. Susan McClary, Board President, over the summer.

The first Community Forum with the Board of Education will take place on Saturday, October 1st from 9:00 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. at Williamsville North High School.

I also want to share an update regarding the expiration dates of the COVID-19 at-home test kits that the District has been distributing.  In late August, the FDA extended the expiration dates beyond the listed date on the test.  Available on the COVID-19 Education page are links to the lot numbers and new expiration dates.

Please be sure to review these links.  You can find the lot number on the back of the box.

While it is more than a month away, we wanted to let you know that on Monday, October 24th, the District will be hosting a family flu vaccination clinic at Casey Middle School from 5:00 p.m. – to – 7 p.m.   As we prepare to enter cold and flu season, and as the date gets closer, we will send an informational flyer and a reminder to families.

Enjoy the weekend and we’ll see you next week!
