Casey Middle School, 105 Casey Rd., presents a talk by Holocaust survivor Grigory Shershnevsky from 5 p.m.-6:15 p.m. Tuesday, May 8, 2018 in the school auditorium. In addition, Buffalo’s Holocaust-era Stories Exhibit will be open for public viewing before and after Mr. Shershnevsky’s presentation. The exhibition, provided by the Holocaust Resource Center of Buffalo, follows eight survivors and one liberator through the themes of movement, antisemitism, cooperation, and resilience. Public viewing will take place 4:30 p.m.-5 p.m. and from 6:15 p.m. to 7 p.m. The presentation and exhibition are free and open to the public.
According to the Holocaust Resource Center of Buffalo, Mr. Shershnevsky was born in Vilna, Lithuania shortly before the German occupation in 1941. He was “adopted” by a Christian Polish woman who also saved a number of other children. His father was active in the underground resistance movement and found Grigory after the war.
