April 7, 2020 - Update to Families
April 7, 2020
Dear Williamsville Central School District Families,
I hope this message finds you safe and healthy. While we continue to move forward in these unprecedented times, it is heartening to see our staff, teachers, students, and community continuing to connect through our digital instruction, phone calls, and parades. It certainly is not an easy time, especially for some of our younger students, but seeing the joy on their faces as principals and teachers drive down their street during these events is truly special.
If you haven’t had a chance to see one of the parades, I would encourage you to head to our social media platforms to watch them.
While we were hoping to return to our schools and classroom instruction following the April break, I wanted to update you regarding our Continuity of Learning.
First, it was announced on Monday that all schools, including the Williamsville Central School District, are now closed until April 29, 2020. We will continue to provide digital instruction during this time.
Additionally, the New York State Department of Education has determined instruction will continue through the April break. Teachers will communicate and connect with students regarding course work through WITS.
Finally, New York State has determined that Regents exams held in June 2020 have been canceled. The State Education Department has put out further guidance and has answered questions at the following link: http://www.nysed.gov/news/2020/state-education-department-issues-guidance-graduation-and-course-requirement-changes-due
If you have any questions, please be sure to contact your building principal or teachers directly.
We appreciate your patience and hope to see students back in our schools soon.
Stay safe and stay healthy!
Scott G. Martzloff, Ed.D
