15 seniors named National Merit Scholarship Semifinalists, 24  named Commended Students

15 Williamsville students are semifinalists in the 2021 National Merit Scholarship Program. It’s the 66th year of the program and these seniors from Williamsville East, North, and South will continue in the National Merit Scholarship Program to compete for more than 7,600 National Merit Scholarships worth more than $30 million.

According to the National Merit Scholarship Program, 21,000 high schools entered the 2021 National Merit Scholarship program by taking the 2019 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test, which serves as the initial screen of program entrants.

In addition, 24 Williamsville seniors were named Commended Students in the 2021 National Merit Scholarship Program. These seniors, who will not continue in the scholarship competition, placed among the top 50,000 scorers among the 1.5 million juniors who took the PSAT/NMSQT.
